What's your size?

What's your size?

February 20th, 2025

The size of a piercing depends on the type of piercing, the gauge, and the length of the post.

Gauge

  • Gauge refers to the thickness of the post that goes through the piercing.
  • Higher numbers are thinner, so a 16 gauge post is thicker than an 18 gauge post.
  • The gauge size you choose depends on the size of your piercing hole.

Length

  • The length of the post depends on the type of piercing and the thickness of your ear.
  • Shorter posts are better for helix, tragus, and conch piercings, while longer posts are better for industrial piercings.

Standard sizes

  • Nose: 20G (0.8mm) or 18G (1mm) gauge, 6mm or 8mm length
  • Earlobe: 18G (1mm) or 20G (0.8mm) gauge, 6mm or 8mm length
  • Nipple: 14G (1.6mm) gauge, 10mm, 12mm, or 14mm length
  • Septum: 14G (1.6mm) or 16G (1.2mm) gauge, 10mm, 11mm, or 12mm length

You can measure your own fingers to find the right size.
